ITS MARDI GRAS TIME and I am sharing my mardi gras diy decor with you!
Since moving to New Orleans, I learned that some people keep up their christmas trees past new years and then redecorate for Mardi Gras! Isn’t that cool?!
Since I typically spend a week or two in Texas for the holidays, I only get to enjoy my christmas tree..maybe for a week..two is a stretch.
So I keep my tree up past new years and decorate it for Mardi Gras!
First Up is the wreath! One thing you will learn from following my blog is that I love WREATHS! As a matter of fact, I put a separate post together just showcasing some of the wreaths I have made over the years. Check that out here.
This wreath is HUGE! It covers the entire width of the doorway. BTW: Yes my front door is fuschia.
Now for my tree. Mardi Gras colors are purple, green and gold/yellow, so I wanted to incorporate all of those colors into my tree!
I made the tree topper using deco mesh, floral wire, and a mardi gras mask. See how I did it below.
Step 1: Gather Supplies: Deco Mesh, Mask, Floral Wire and Scissors
Step 2: Gather Tulle in the middle, like you are forming a bow. I did about 8 folds the length of my hand
Step 3: Cut tulle once the bow is as big and full as you want, and secure in the middle with the floral wire
Step 4: Cut 2 small holes on either side of the bow to insert the mask strings into, Tie them together to secure the mask.
Step 5: Secure to tree using another piece of floral wire and VIOLA!
I also did a bead centerpiece and hung beads from the ceiling but those pictures somehow got lost! That is all of my Mardi Gras Decor!
